I think it's time to set the record straight once and for all. I've been nagging myself to write this journal for quite some time now, so it's high time I actually did. Here goes...
To those of you who were wondering why I haven't done anything on DA in such a long time, I decided to take an indefinite hiatus from DA and making cards. That hiatus is now officially over. It's back to work. The reason why I decided to leave DA and stop making cards was three fold. Firstly: no one had responded to any of my new stuff in quite a long time. I found this disheartening because I put so much more time into the stuff that was appreciated the least. My older stuff, like my Charlie the Unicorn card which got well over a thousand views took about three minutes to make each card. I put anywhere from 30 minutes to four hours total into each individual card I make now. As a result, they may not be as funny as my older stuff, but I believe that the quality of my new work is exponentially greater than that of my old work. To have it shunned like that was greatly disheartening for me. Secondly: after exhausting so many internet phenomena, I felt I was running out of options for new cards. With those cards, I didn't feel like I had to make a coherent set. My newer, videogame related cards had a coherent theme for the most part, so they became much harder to create. An example of this is the TF2 set, which I am probably never going to release to the general public due to its size, the lack of public support, and the fact that I feel I can do much better now. I feel I am out of this slump now. Thirdly: I felt like DA was dying. Fast. Like, really freakin' fast. It could have just been me, but the lack of comments, constructive or otherwise, on my stuff and the fact that no one would read my journals made me feel that I was just wasting my figurative breath. I hope that has changed in my absence. Somehow I doubt it, but I hope those of you who actually read these things will prove me to be dead wrong.
Without further ado, I will stop writing this and get back to work on my next set. It won't be humorous, but it will be about as close to a balanced and playable set as I can make.
